Secondary Market
Public and private companies and co-operatives alike can utilise Sharemark’s secondary market to provide an exit route for shareholders and members, to stimulate liquidity, and to assist with valuing the company.
With three different types of market on offer, companies can choose the one which best suits their requirements:
- Closed market – trading is restricted to a defined audience, i.e. existing shareholders, employees or members of a co-operative. The company defines who it wants to restrict trading to and Sharemark works with it to ensure the restriction works;
- Monitored market – any potential investor can enter an order to buy or sell, the but company retains the right to prevent a transfer;
- Open market – any investor can buy or sell shares without any of the above detailed restrictions.
Sharemark also offers the possibility to dual trade shares with a senior market such as AIM or PLUS Markets. For further information on the dual trading service, please click here.
